After initially launching with four color options, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge today gained a fifth.
Samsung has officially introduced Pink Gold as the new color for its Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. The Pink Gold phones will launch in Korea on April 20, and they’ll hit other “select markets” soon. Unfortunately, Samsung didn’t specify which markets those will be, so we’ll just have to wait and see which other locales get these pink smartphones.
As for why it chose Pink Gold as the fifth color option for the GS7 and GS7 edge, here’s what Samsung had to say about its decision:
Pink Gold was chosen as it, like the other colors available for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, is a natural color that provides a sense of comfort. These hues glitter and shimmer as if illuminated from inside their glass surfaces.
In particular, the refined, skin tone-inspired Pink Gold color scheme is intended to soothe and incorporate a touch of gentleness, radiance and sophistication to the smartphones’ design.
Whatever the reasoning, Pink Gold is a bit more fun than the black, white, silver, and gold color options that the GS7 and GS7 edge are currently available with. This type of light pink color is also a popular color option among phone makers right now, with the likes of LG, HTC, Sony, Apple, and now Samsung all offering flagship phones in this type of hue.
