Verizon Galaxy S7 update includes app that can install more bloatware

The latest update for the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 isn’t entirely innocent. There’s something inside it that wasn’t mentioned in the changelogs, and that’s DT Ignite.

DT Ignite is an app that carriers install to gain the ability to install further bloatware down the line. It runs in the background and automatically installs apps on your device, much like malware but official!

Thankfully, you can disable it. Google gave us the ability to disable apps like this even when they can’t be uninstalled, which means we don’t have to deal with bloatware popping up. Head to Settings > Apps, hit the menu button, and click Show system. Then find DT Ignite and disable it.

Verizon Galaxy S7 owners, let us know if you see this app pop up!
