It’s bad enough that the newly-announced Moto Z has a period of exclusivity on Verizon. Now there’s more bad news to be had from the Chinese manufacturer. The unlocked model of the Moto Z, which should be coming this fall, will only work on GSM networks.
Despite the Nexus 6 and the Moto X Pure Edition both offering GSM and CDMA functionality for hopping between all four US carriers (as well as many foreign carriers), it seems Lenovo will not continue this tradition.
While the Moto Z is a great device, Lenovo has made some poor choices that have upset people today. It’s a solid phone shrouded in controversy, and that’s really unfortunate. I was really looking forward to what Motorola had to offer, but it looks like we’ll have to make some sacrifices to enjoy it.
What do you guys think? Is this a dealbreaker for you? Let us know in the comments!
