Last month, Google officially took the wraps off the next generation of its wearable platform named Android Wear 2.0. Of course, with any major software update, questions arise about which devices will be getting it.
For owners of the first generation Moto 360, it isn’t good news. It’s been confirmed by the official Motorola Support Twitter account (@Moto_Support) that the Moto 360 (1st Gen.) won’t be upgraded to Android Wear 2.0. Interestingly enough, the official support account revealed the news about the first Moto 360′s future when answering a different question.
@timo_capa Unfortunately, Moto360 1 Gen will not receive the new update 2.0

However, while Android Wear 2.0 won’t be arriving on the original Moto 360, essential security patches will trickle their way in when needed.
As for why the original Moto 360 won’t be getting the update, there’s no word on that just yet. Considering that it launched in 2014 and has been replaced by a newer variant already, that could be a good place to start.
