Earlier in the month, OnePlus officially started rolling out the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for the OnePlus 2. But the company isn’t leaving behind its first flagship.
The OnePlus One is now receiving an update to Cyanogen OS 13.1 which, among other things, brings with it Mods support. What that means is bringing third-party apps right into the core experience of the software running on the handset. With Mods, software will now show you pertinent information for certain apps, which can be accessed in some instances by swiping left on the lock screen.
One example is the Twitter mod, which will put trending tweets on a dedicated page to the left of the lock screen.
It probably shouldn’t be too surprising that there are plenty of Microsoft Mods already available, too. That includes a Skype mod, which will integrate right into the stock Phone app, which will let users make Skype calls from right in the app. And if you want to take time-lapse videos right from within your Camera app, the Hyperlapse Mod will make that a reality. Microsoft has also included a Cortana Mod, which will let users ask the digital personal assistant to take a selfie, set a reminder, and check your schedule right from the lock screen.
If you have a OnePlus One, are you looking forward to this update?
