Android 7.0 Nougat could arrive on August 22

Up to this point, the official release date for Android 7.0 Nougat has been a mystery, but the wait for the next version of Android could be coming to an end very soon, at least as far as Nexus owners are concerned.

Two very distinct clues have surfaced that suggest Nougat will launch next Monday, August 22. Upgrade information posted by Canadian carrier Telus suggests that the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X will start receiving Android 7.0 updates on August 22.

Telus was spot-on last year with its software update schedule with Android Marshmallow, so it’s likely the carrier is correct this year, too.

On top of that, the recently announced Android 7.0 preview program in South Korea for LG G5 owners starts on Monday, August 22.

Nexus devices will be the first to get Android 7.0 Nougat, including the aforementioned Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. As for non-Nexus devices, we know the LG V20 will debut on September 6 with Android 7.0 on board. Google will likely unveil new Nexus smartphones sometime after that, which will launch with Android Nougat preinstalled.

Are you eagerly anticipating the release of Android 7.0?
