Google is aligning its Places API with Maps search results for developers
Google is putting its best foot forward for those accessing its Places API. To provide better search results, the Places API is now integrated with Maps results. Developers have been requesting that the Places API search results more closely resemble those from Maps, so Google is replacing the type restriction parameter in its API with a new type search parameter. Google notes developers who have been using the Nearby Search, Text Search or Radar Search type parameters in the Places API will be affected.
